Tatkal Reservation @ Indian Railways

"painful" is the adjective that comes to my mind when I think of tatkal services of indian railways..I am sure everyone who have tried to book their tatkal tickets from irctc.co.in wud agree with me.."ridiculous" is another term which I wud associate with the whole process..

I don't get the point why Indian railways don't do anything to improve the process..why can't we think of something smart enuf to cater the needs of billions of ppl in this country..

here is what I think we can do to improve the process..given that tatkal is a first come first serve system we don't want the operational efficiency of railway employees to become a hurdle in the customer booking process..note this adds to the woes of customers standing in queues 1 day before the booking day..hence we can go for the carbon readers and OMR sheet forms for the booking process..this way the keying of info and other time wasters due to employee efficiencies can be negated..

another suggestion is to increase the current capacity of Indian railways servers to cater the needs of ever growing tatkal online bookers..the link goes down right at the brim of booking at 8:00 am..

It is really heartening to hear the news that railways has enabled the mobile booking apps to book tickets using mobile..I seriously doubt the server capacity to handle the increasing requests from mobiles..may be we need the pigeon search or hadoop search capabilities used in google and other fastest data retrieval sites in order to enhance the irctc sites..

hope Indian Railways do some due diligence into these constructive criticisms which cud serve the best service for it's customers and also an enhanced customer satisfaction..
