Shopping Experience at WalMart (ALP)

This weekend we were running out of inventory in our house. So my friend (Bala) and me thought to replenish the stocks from Walmart. Quickly we grabbed a car and off we went to WalMart.

Really WalMart is a cool place to buy groceries and food items. You would get everything there. Anyone would love to buy things at WalMart.

But does WalMart really gives items at a cheaper price than other retailer? ALP - their slogan "Always low Price" Do we really get items at low price? I was with this mindset the moment I entered WalMart.

I suspiciously noticed one strategy by WalMart. They seems to have all the items on the shelves. There seems to be a price tag stuck on the shelf which is of too less value (1$ to 5$) but the items that have been stored in that shelf is way above (9$ to 15$).

So I somehow get the feeling that WalMart is adopting a Marketing Strategy to attract customers by their low prices (prices on the shelf). But the actual price is there in the bar code of the item being picked up by the customer which may be of more value than the price stuck on the shelf. And, mostly the customers buy a whole lot of things at WalMart with the ALP mindset and they endup in a big list that they hardly check while leaving the counter and pay the bill.

Now I am not sure if any of you guys have noticed this. If so, please comment upon your experience.

I doubt if it is that simple. They actually have barcode scanners in the shops where you can scan the price of the item even before you take it to the billing section.
